Grades 9 -10

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation at Saint Dominic Church is a two year process that runs the course of 9th and 10th grade high schoolers.

The program is, in effect, the practical application of religious studies through eighth grade. Students put their religious principles into action through structured community and church service as they learn more about sharing and giving. Speakers who are professionals and expert in various fields are brought in over the course of the program to address the class, stimulate thinking, and create a dialogue on serious social, moral and other issues of the day. One of the major highlights of the two year program is the Leap of Faith day of retreat for the class where boys and girls are placed in situations outside of church where they are developing confidence, trust and faith as they bond closer to one another.

Our philosophy is FULL PARTICIPATION in this first and second year Confirmation program.

This is a mentor-based program in which the candidates take the gifts of the Holy Spirit and apply them to their lives. The program consists of lessons, guest speakers, hands-on service projects, retreats, and individual long-term commitments.

Our expectation is that these students attend and actively participate in all meetings, retreats, special programs, etc. In order for them to receive the full benefit of these two very important faith formation years, the total cooperation of students and parents are required.
